Quaker Cemetery
Hillsville, PA

This cemetery holds the bodies of some of the first Quakers that Settled in Pennsylvania. In 1799, three Quaker families took up residency near the banks of the Mahoning River and there they established Quakertown. Very little is known of this settlement although it lasted for 140 years. This community disappeared at the start of World War II. Much about the town has yet to be discovered.

Most of the stones in this small, stone walled cemetery were weathered and very hard to read. You will see in a few of the pictures that we held a light to the side of them. This helped a great deal in reading the names on the stones by casting a shadow behind the lettering. We broke away alot of the brush and trees that hid the cemetery. Although we were worried that this might draw unwanted attention from vandals, we felt this place was well worth recognition. Sometime in the near future we would love to go back and clean it up.

A few of the names we could read are as follows.

Eliza Townsend
Catherine (no last name)

Mary Robbins

Bejamin Sharples
Amy Sharples
Sarah (no last name)

Quaker Cemetery Slide Show

Not much video was taken, I will be reviewing it soon. We didn't get any EVPs at this location either.

Wendy went to check out the site during the day to make sure it was a good place for a hunt. She took a few pictures of the area. One of the stones she took a picture of had a mist around it, she snapped another picture of the same area and there was nothing there. She took note that she was not smoking at the time.

Wendy's neice took her German Sheppard on the preliminary hunt, and he refused to go near one portion of the cemetery. It's known that animals can see and sense things we can't.
