I did have a tv on but it was downstair.  The whining is my puppy in his crate in the bedroom.  I believe the voice is saying, "Please be quiet, we're sleeping".  It is clearly a child's voice on the recording.  Neither my daughter nor my girlfriend where in the house.  The digital recorder was placed on my hall bench directly where Ares (my puppy) has been staring and growling during the late evening hours.  Also, the sounds of the tv were not audible on the recording.  Saturday evening/morning there were plenty of sounds of footsteps going up the stairs and walking through the diningroom.  This was witnessed by 3 of my frat brothers.  This is quite a fun place to be lately....

I'm in the process of doing some digging on the history of the house.  It was one of the original homes of Ellwood, the Thomas Clark home and the owner did pass away in the home.
